He didn't mean to cause so much damage as the attack spiraled out of control. His own father was killed in the incident. There'd be other black marks on his record mostly relating back to his magic - some murder, betrayal, etc. - but that incident is the big one. Cleansed Crystal Mirror, yes or no?: Sure! While he has stolen things in the past, since coming to Mayfield Crowe has renounced his ways and no longer wishes to hurt people.
